2022.01.29 10:38 Dysibio I have a lot of movies to sell, but I don't want to use eBay or Amazon...

So guys, the problem is that I have a shitton of factory sealed OOP boxsets that I want to sell, but I don't want to do it on eBay or Amazon because I think they take too much and you can't even connect PayPal anymore in EU, you gotta do it with your bank account and I am sure that my shitty country (Croatia) is gonna tax me for the sales of my private collection.
So, what are the alternatives? I know some people sell their stuff here and I am okay with that, I just want to find a way that is safe for both seller and buyer.

2022.01.29 10:38 S4njay The Homestead, Part I: I found a list of rules and promptly ignored them

Finally, I was able to net the life of my dreams.
For the longest time, my dream was to live in a rural area and support myself by homesteading. Well, being born in a city, and growing up and working in the same city didn't exactly help anything. But now, I had enough savings to purchase a small lot of land out in the sticks and live a life there. Admittedly, I would have to be frugal, but it would work out.
Logically, the next step was to buy some land to live on. Due to my interests in hunting and off-roading, I decided to search for a place in Maine. To accomplish this, I got myself a local realtor who specialised in rural and forest property. After scouring through endless listings, we found a plot of land that seemed perfect. It was a 28-acre plot of land in the northeastern forests, with a quaint two-bedroom one-bathroom log cabin built on it. Even better, it had a decent-sized lake near the property. Moreover, the price of the land wasn't too bad, at around seventy thousand dollars.
Next, I contacted and met with the seller for the viewing. She was a woman in her mid-thirties, a resident of Moncton. While discussing the property, she shed some light on its history and prior usage. "My grandpa lived here for thirty years, he built the cabin that you're seeing here right now. Too bad he died of an accident.", she explained.
"An accident?", I asked, intrigued.
"Yes, an accident. His ATV flipped over while he was riding it, or so the report said. Anyways, I'm more of a city person, and living in Canada, so I decided to sell the property. It's not like I would come down here too often.", she elaborated.
Well, despite that little titbit, I fell in love with the place during the viewing. Sure, it might have been a bit of a fixer-upper, but it had everything I needed. The site inspection had also confirmed that everything was in place and functioning remarkably well. Without any hesitation, I purchased the land and made the move.
For the next few weeks, I was super busy setting up everything. While I did settle some stuff like transportation and household supplies before moving, there was a ton of things to get done. House decoration, unpacking, exploring my new property to its fullest, and tons of other commitments kept me busy all day. Oh, and there was that backyard chicken coop that I needed to set up some time. Despite that, I was starting to have the time of my life. Living out in the woods may have had some inconveniences, but I was definitely getting used to everything.
One fine day, I was relaxing on the couch. It had been a long and fun day of riding on the ATV trails, but damn, was I aching. Well, luckily the previous owner set up a functioning power and water supply, for I don't know where I'd be without the old man. I ambled along to the fridge, looking to sip a few beers while chilling on the porch. It was then that I noticed a cupboard next to the fridge that I'd never noticed before. Out of curiosity, I opened the cupboard, only to find a It was an old leather-bound book with slightly yellowed pages and a bookmark in one of the pages. Instinctively flipping to the bookmarked page, I saw a list of rules.
"If you're reading this, I'm probably dead and my granddaughter must have sold my land or something. Well, lucky you, I suppose. You may or may not have noticed, but some weird shit goes on here."
I was perplexed by these sentences. What was I supposed to notice? And what was going on here? Anyways, I carried on reading.
"To live well here, just follow the rules down there. All of these are from my experience.

  1. Every day, leave a bowl of milk with a single drop of your blood in it on the porch. This is for the cat to drink.
  2. If the cat begs for pets, pet the cat. I mean, it's only happened once before, but just saying...
  3. If you walk into the cabin and see that things look different, turn around and walk 40 steps ahead without looking back.
  4. If you see anything crawling out of the lake at the edge of the property, run far away without a second thought
  5. If you see a weird creature, monitor it constantly while turning away from it and going back home.
  6. Stay armed.
The weird creature I’m talking about in particular is a tall fleshy creature with long and spindly arms and legs, and a terrifying skull for a head. But this place never fails to surprise, so run at the first sign of trouble. Godspeed.”
Well, that was terrifying. Even the bowl of milk and all that shit about the cat was fine but that thing about the cabin? And the monster? Those terrified me. Anyways, first things first, I went to talk to the seller.
Her response? She laughed for a minute straight.
"Ah, sorry for that. My old man loved pranking people, and I'm sure this must be a prank of his. Can't believe you were scared of that!'", she continued. "In fact, I visited once and he didn't do anything of the sort, you should be fine," she added.
Well, I wish I could say I had the foresight to follow the rules or at least stay alert. But, I didn't. Instead, for the next few days, I was occupied with setting up the chicken coop. To be fair, it was hard work. First, I had to set up the hardware of the coop. Things like fencing, walls, gates, the main boy, you get the drill. Particularly, I had to be extra safe because I didn't want any forest predators getting in the thing. Next, there was the work of transporting the chickens. Luckily, I had some connections with the local backyard chicken community, but damn was it boring, laborious work that involved a shit ton of driving around and loading chickens. By the time I had gotten back home and housed my four hens and four roosters, I was absolutely exhausted, and anything related to monsters was far out of my mind. Satisfied with myself, I curled up in my bed and slept for ten long glorious hours.
Well, those were glorious hours until I woke up to the sound of panicked chickens.
I immediately grabbed my rifle and ran straight to the chicken coop... or what was left of it. It was absolutely destroyed, ripped up by whatever creature had seen fit to ravage it. Thankfully, apart from one rooster that was torn into shreds, all the chickens were alive, if not a bit panicked. Guess I was just lucky they didn't run off into the undergrowth never to be seen again.
Sadly, it was a lot of work rebuilding everything, since all the stuff I had done over the past few days was basically destroyed and unusable. The chickens being panicked after the attack did not do any wonders either.
After that spectacle, I sat down and thought about my situation and the house for a long time. Eventually, I deliberated and decided the best course of action was to follow the rules, no longer how arcane and weird they were, for my safety. However, now that I think about it, this would not be the end of it. There would be bigger and worse things to come.
And whatever it is, I will get to the end of this.

I'm curious about Northern Virginia, in the counties outside of DC. Are there any affordable areas for working class people? Or is it all upper class and very expensive? And has the area's prices generally leveled out in the last few years, or does it keep rising with no end in sight?

2022.01.29 10:38 coachella68 Help (please)!

I had been doing keto for about 21 days and lost 3kg but decided to try ADF as I would really like to have carbs back in my diet and I also like the other benefits fasting can provide.
After a week of modified fasts (500 cals 3 days a week) I lost nothing so the next week I tried a 48 hour complete fast (water and black coffee/tea only) followed by a 12-hour eating window (stayed well within my TDEE but ate carbs) and then another 36 hour complete fast and a 9.5-hour eating window.
I’ve lost nothing. I am not going over my TDEE. I make everything myself and track and weigh it — I log the exact brand of what I’m eating. There is no way I’m overeating or undereating. I’ve had all my blood work done to rule out any medical reasons. Nothing.
I don’t get it. Is this not scientifically impossible?!

2022.01.29 10:38 Mundo_SMOrc Looking for wireless IEM Headphones around the £100 mark

Recently my headphones broke and I decided to look for wireless IEM Headphones as I do prefer more lightweight devices. I'm somewhat of an audiophile and I want to invest in a pair that can offer very clear and crisp audio for a decent price.
Budget Minimum: £90
Maximum: £130 - Can go over by some amount depending on suggestions
Usage I will be using the new headphones to listen to music during my runs/travelling as well as videos covering all my interests. It won't be used for anything else.
Preferred Tonal Balance For the most part, I'm looking for headphones that are tonally balanced. I will also consider any pairs that offer good bass without too much compromisation on other parts.
Preferred Music My music preferences change quite a lot but I do find myself sticking to genres like Classical/Heavy Orchestral/Choirs during work-days. Outside of that, I'm a big fan of genres such as Dream Pop and Rap.
Thanks for reading!

2022.01.29 10:38 homan67 Farming in Ukraine?

I am trying to get my citizenship right now as I have always wanted to farm in Ukraine. How expensive is the farmland in Ukraine. I ideally would like to build to a couple thousand hectares over a decade or so. Is this possible? Are people willing to sell the land or does it have a low turnover rate? Also is it easy to sell milk for dairy?

2022.01.29 10:38 infectedfrogs Unlaced Skates?

I’ve seen so many people leave their skates untied with the tongue wide open or bent downwards and I’m not sure why. I’m still new to skating and I thought I was suppose to lace them all the way up but it seems like a lot of the really good skaters don’t. Should I try not lacing my skates? Is there a specific technique? And why do some skaters do this?
